What happens when it doesn't go Jesus' way...

It would have been incredibly easy (and understandable) for Jesus to turn from Nazareth after his rejection and go back to Capernaum. Instead, he takes a frustrating situation and does the unthinkable: He shares his authority.

What we learn about God in this passages is God's adaptability. The unchanging nature of God shines through this story because God refuses to give up on humanity or the rest of creation. It also gives us a glimpse of God's willingness to be vulnerable, which is such a major theme of Lent.
